Fluminense defeated Athletico-PR by 2-0 this Saturday (22/04), at Maracanã. With goals from Lima and Nino, Tricolor secured the three points in a match valid for the second round of the Brazilian Championship. Now, with 6 points, the team maintains 100% success and the leadership of the competition so far.
Under the command of coach Fernando Diniz, the team returns to the field on Tuesday (04/25) for the second leg of the third phase of the Copa do Brasil. The confrontation, against Paysandu, takes place at 8 pm, in Mangueirão, in Belém-PA.
FIRST TIME
Fluminense started the game with complete dominance, giving the opponent a hard time from the opening whistle. In the first minute of the game, Arias received Ganso on the left side and returned it to Lima, who risked a shot from outside the area, demanding a good defense from the goalkeeper. At 4 minutes, Ganso took a free kick in the penalty area, the ball deflected in the defense and left for Cano, who sent it through the bottom line. The first goal for the tricolor came in the 10th minute, after a cross by Arias. The opposing defense intercepted and the ball ended up at Lima’s feet, who once again took a risk from outside the area and opened the scoring at Maracanã.
Flu continued to press, with another chance in the 19th minute. After hitting and rebounding on the right side of the penalty area, the ball was left to Cano, who risked a shot that exploded in the opponent’s defense. At 30 minutes, Samuel Xavier got the ball after a corner kick and the winger took a risk, but the ball skimmed the crossbar.
In the 33rd minute, Keno made a good pass to Arias, who sent Cano a good pass to André. The midfielder kicked towards the goal and scored the second for Tricolor in the match. The goal, however, ended up disallowed by VAR for offside at the start of the play. At 40, German Cano stole the ball and sent it straight to the goal, but the goalkeeper made the save.
SECOND TIME
The second half started more calmly than the first, without many dangerous moves. However, in the first big chance, at 21 minutes, Tricolor scored the second of the game with Nino, with a header, after a short corner from Lima to Alexsander, who crossed for the captain to score.
Fluminense started to scare again in the 41st minute, when Arias received the ball in midfield, drove to the edge of the area and made the pass to Lelê, who found Cano on the opposite side. The Argentine hit hard, but the ball went too high. Two minutes later, Alexsander took a chance from outside the area and sent it out. Fluminense controlled the game until the final whistle and secured the three points at Maracanã.
