Argentine tennis player Norma Baylon, 80 years old and number four in the world in the 1960s, will present next Tuesday her well-deserved authorized biography, written by journalist María Luz Marín and published by Ediciones Al Arco.

The work, simply titled Baylon, has a prologue by another legendary former tennis player: the American Billie Jean King, considered one of the best in history and creator of the Womens Tennis Association WTA.

The presentation of the book will be on Tuesday, May 2, starting at 10:15 at the Olivos Naval Center, located at Calle Juan Díaz de Solís 1941, and Baylon herself will be present, who turned 80 on November 9.

She will be accompanied by the author of the biography and also by the renowned tennis journalist Eduardo Puppo, and tennis players and leaders of the Argentine Tennis Association (AAT) and journalist Guillermo Salatino, author of the epilogue of the work and who also arrived. to play mixed double with Baylon.

The book represents an act of justice and historical reparation: long before the appearances of Gabriela Sabatini (who participates in the book) and even Guillermo Vilas, Norma Baylon led the way in difficult times for women.

She broke stereotypes and reached number 4 in the world in 1966. Four years earlier, in 1962, she had also been the first woman to win the Olimpia de Oro, an award given to the best athlete of the season.
