Tallon Greek track was already eliminated in the first round of the gravel tournament in Banja Luka on Monday. The Dutchman lost in Bosnia and Herzegovina to the Australian Alexei Popyrin, the number 83 in the world: 6-7 (4) and 6-7 (4).
Greek track was not convincing in his third clay court tournament of the year. The number two in the Netherlands eliminated break points in three different games in the first set, but Popyrin still struck in the tiebreak.
The Australian also remained upright in his own service in the second set, despite two break points for the Greek track at 3-2. The Dutchman pulled out a second tiebreak with difficulty. Popyrin only needed one minibreak to secure the victory.
The quick elimination in Banja Luka is a major setback for the Greek track, who was placed fifth in the ATP 250 tournament. He defended the Dutch honor, because Botic van de Zandschulp plays in Munich this week and Gijs Brouwer in Barcelona.
Greek track also fell directly last week
Last week, the Greek track also finished quickly at the Masters tournament in Monte Carlo. The North Hollander lost to Stan Wawrinka in the first round. Despite this, he rose (one place) to 34th position in the world rankings on Monday.
