During the municipal council of Wednesday April 12, 2023, in Eu, in Seine-Maritime, Sebastien Godemandeputy mayor in charge of town planning, presented a project for rehabilitation of the dojo. This is located in theformer Hotel-Dieu.
The elected official indicated: “The current room, located upstairs, of limited size, does not allow the reception of parents or the public, nor the organization of competitions”. The project therefore provides for the rehabilitation premises located on the floor below the dojo, to allow the reception of a greater number of licensees.
The city is eligible for grants from the national sports agency.
The amount of expenditure is estimated at €157,390 including tax, with a subsidy of €125,911 from thenational sports agency and a participation of 6,478 e from the French Judo Federation. The city would pay €25,000. “This is an opportunity to rehabilitate obsolete premises, by obtaining significant subsidies, with funds upstream of Olympic Games 2024 ».
“Premises that are not suitable”
Gilbert Deneufve, municipal councilor of the opposition group Agir pour Eu. x made the discordant voice of his group heard. “In 2007, at the end of François Gouet’s mandate, a sports development project at the Franchet stadium included a dojo. The following team decided to stop this project to launch the Salle des Aulnes project, with unfortunately the suppression of the dojo”.
The chosen one regrets to see that the dojo is maintained at the Hôtel-Dieu. “There is no place for it, the Hôtel-Dieu should be reserved for culture. It is a place that is not very accessible and with little parking. Gilbert Deneufve indicated that the group was going to abstain, “not against the project, but against its location”.
The project was approved, with several abstentions from the opposition.
