Every Wednesday, Madeleine Laforge will join a group of more than twenty members of the FADOQ of La Tuque in a large hall of the Municipal Social Center. This is the weekly meeting place for pocket game enthusiasts.
On the occasion of this week’s meeting, her companions and playmates wanted to give her a little surprise to mark the 100th anniversary that she will celebrate on May 15. She received flowers for the occasion.
How do you get to 100 with such strong health? The lady from La Tuque doesn’t really have any secrets to reveal. She has lost her sense of sight a little, but retains all her vigor: “There is no recipe. I had a lot of misery, but I think I’ve toughened up.”
Like many centenarians, it’s probably her sense of humor, not worrying about life’s ups and downs and staying active that give her such a youthful air. “I keep myself in shape,” she admits.
Her friends at FADOQ hadn’t told her about Monlatuque.com’s appearance during their pocket baseball game last Wednesday, keeping her surprised by a report. They made a point of underlining the birthday which it will celebrate soon as it should be. “I’m not used to that,” she said when giving an interview for the radio. She did very well though.
Madeleine Laforge, who had seven children, still lives in her apartment, she has just finished her big cleaning and is cooking.
The members of the FADOQ all attest that she is the best pocket player, as much by her performances as her good humor. Two elements that make them so happy to find the nice lady every week. We wish him many more good years with as much health.
