NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal served in FTX Class Action

Several failed attempts later, NBA superstar Shaquille O’Neal was finally served Sunday in an FTX class action lawsuit.

A Florida judge has denied a motion to allow FTX’s promoter to be served electronically after the law firm representing victims affected by the exchange’s collapse accused it of evading service for months.

  • The attorney who led the case, Adam M. Moskowitz, revealed serve O’Neal at his home on Sunday afternoon.
  • In a statement, Moskowitz also said the entire exchange was filmed.

“The good news is that his home cameras have recorded our service and we have made it clear that he must not destroy and/or erase any of these security tapes, as they must be kept for our cause.”

  • O’Neal is unique among several celebrities who have been involved with the FTX platform led by Sam Bankman-Fried
  • The class action lawsuit was filed by Oklahoma native Edwin Garrison, a client of FTX, and is being handled by attorneys Adam Moskowitz and David Boies.
  • He named several high-profile celebrities to have endorsed FTX, such as Tom Brady, Steph Curry and Larry David, who have yet to be served.
  • In a series of tweets last week, the Moskowitz law firm said O’Neal had been “running away” from them “for 3 months.”
  • The team also said it was out of the TNT studios in Atlanta throughout the week serving the NBA legend on behalf of investors FTX regarding his prior endorsement of the now-defunct platform.
  • Last week, it was reported that FTX managed to recover most of its assets owed to customers and could potentially restart operations next year.
