ATP tour continues without Nadal

Rafael Nadal’s forced break continues. The Spaniard will also have to forego participation in the ATP 1000 tournament in Madrid that starts next week. “The injury is still not healed,” writes Nadal on Instagram. “I haven’t been able to train enough to play tournaments.” Nadal has been struggling with a hip injury since the beginning of the year. The 36-year-old has not played a game since he was eliminated in the second round of the Australian Open in January.

Munich: Ritschard sniffs the surprise

Alexander Ritschard (ATP 209) just missed another surprise at the ATP 250 tournament in Munich against Marcos Giron (USA / ATP 68). Everything went perfectly for Ritschard for 55 minutes. He secured the first set and immediately started the second round with a break. But then the Zurich lost the thread. He didn’t get through three of the next five service games, which finally led to the 6:4, 3:6, 3:6 defeat after more than two hours. After all, Ritschard won a set for the first time in his third round of 16 on the ATP Tour.

Geneva: Another top 10 player

In addition to the two-time tournament winner Casper Ruud (ATP 3), the American Taylor Fritz (ATP 10) is a second top 10 player taking part in the Geneva Open. The organizers want to publish the entire list of players for the clay court tournament in the Parc des Eaux-Vives from May 20th to 27th next week. 25-year-old American Taylor Fritz reached the semifinals of the Monte Carlo ATP 1000 clay court tournament last week and triumphed in Indian Wells in March.
