Occident, the new brand that will integrate the traditional business of Grupo Catalana Occidente, has sponsored the Copa del Rey wheelchair basketball, extending for the sixth consecutive year the commitment that Plus Ultra Seguros maintained with the Spanish Federation of Sports for People with Disabilities Physics (Feddf).
As reported by the insurer this Monday, with this collaboration it reaffirms its support for adapted sports and the values it promotes, such as self-improvement and teamwork.
The competition took place at the Miguel Guillén Prim sports center in Madrid between last Friday and yesterday, Sunday, and the top eight wheelchair basketball qualifiers from La Liga participated.
In the words of the general director of Plus Ultra Seguros, Julián Herrera, “it is an honor to continue promoting adapted sports through our new brand, Occident.” In this sense, Julián stressed that “the Copa del Rey wheelchair basketball is a benchmark when it comes to giving visibility to people with disabilities and we want to maintain our commitment to such an inclusive event in our society.”
For his part, the president of the Feddf, Enrique Álvarez Orcajo, thanked Occident for its support in this project “which has the objective of giving people with disabilities the opportunity to dedicate themselves to practicing sports professionally.”
Catalana Occidente has recently announced the unification of its traditional business companies (Seguros Catalana Occidente, Plus Ultra Seguros, Seguros Bilbao and NorteHispana Seguros) under the Occident brand. This union is part of the corporate simplification process that the insurance group began years ago and whose objective is to achieve a more agile organization.
