Red Bull crushes Azerbaijan Grand Prix, Verstappen chasing Perez

The Mexican definitely adores urban layouts. Victorious in Monaco and Singapore last year and already in Baku in 2021, Sergio Perez won the sprint race in Azerbaijan on Saturday. Second on the grid, the number 2 of Red Bull quickly passed Charles Leclerc, on pole, after the intervention of the safety car following a wheel lost by Yuki Tsunoda. In the lead after eight laps, the Mexican then contained the Ferrari of Monegasque until the end of 17 laps to win the eight points of the day. Behind, Leclerc had to contain an angry Max Verstappen, third at the finish. The Dutchman was in a fight on the first corners with George Russell. A heated confrontation with a contact and a damaged pontoon for the double world champion. But the latter still managed to grab the podium. For the rest, this sprint looked more like a long parade, still just as sad for Alpine moreover since Pierre Gasly (13th) and Esteban Ocon (18th) did not shine.
