Sorède – Archery: spot on for the Youth Challenge at Mas del Ca

Saturday, April 22 afternoon, the 2023 edition of the Youth Challenge of Sorède took place, at the Mas del Ca. This competition, organized by the Cie des Archers des Albères, counted for the Departmental Youth Challenge 2023 set up by the Departmental Committee archery to allow all young archers to discover competition without apprehension. This departmental challenge has the particularity of confronting mixed archers by classification level and not by age category, with the exception of Poussins P7-8 (2015-2016) – P9 (2014) – P10 (2013) as well as AS1 (1st year Juniors) and AS2 (confirmed Juniors), who compete in their respective categories.

The competitors practiced their talents over distances ranging from 10 to 18 m and on faces (targets) with a diameter of 40 to 122 cm. The 16 young archers from the Sorède club engaged in this round of the 2023 edition wore the colors of their archery school.

Individually, Enzo Fruteau de Laclos, Eliott Paulin Guilhemsang and Naos Gaultier finished 2nd, 3rd and 4th respectively in the Poussins P10 category (2013).

Yann Le Roy Prom, Ismaël Putod-Yahi, Sohan Gros-Dubois, Timaël Le Gall, Lohan Michaux Messin and Noémie Faure rank respectively 1st, 4th, 5th, 6th, 8th and 9th in the very high category of Young beginner archers.

Juliette Pelleja and Saël Bensimon finished 2nd and 4th in the level 3 category.

Alexis Faure and Soizick Wykaert Meur rank 4th and 6th in the level 2 category.

Aurel Wykaert Meur and Vincent Bringuier have 1st and 4th place in the level 1 category.

Arthur Duchossoy ranks 1st in the AS1 category and, at the same time, reaches the higher level “AS2” for having passed the bar of 340 pts.

By team, the Young mixed archers of Sorède rank 2nd behind the club of Perpignan. The mixed Poussins team from Sorède ranks 2nd behind the Sainte-Marie-la-Mer club.

The organization of this competition was made possible thanks to the involvement of the clubs of the department which motivated their young people, the mobilization of the volunteers of the club and the parents who worked to set up the competition, to make pastries, the maintenance of the registry and the refreshment bar, as well as the 2 young archers from Sorède who acted as referees, Virgile Wykaert Meur and Aaron Pelleja.

The Young Departmental Outdoor Archery Challenge will continue on Saturday May 6 on the grounds of the Catalan Archers in Perpignan at the Aristide-Maillol high school stadium.
