Swimming gives Bolivia its first gold medals

Swimmers from Santa Cruz María José Ribera and Esteban Núñez del Prado gave Bolivia its first gold medals at the Alba Games, which are held in Venezuela.

Ribera achieved first place in the 50 backstroke test, while Núñez del Prado did so in the 200 combined.

Ribera also managed to enter the 100 freestyle final; However, she decided not to compete in that test to be more whole for the final of the 50 backstroke and thus fight for gold, and she did, according to the Bolivian Swimming Federation (Febona).

Bolivia also added two bronze medals in the judo discipline, thanks to the performance of Linet Toledo, in the 57 kg category, and Alejandro Zamudio, in the 60 kg category.

Team Bolivia yesterday also competed in other disciplines such as fencing, in which Fernando Chacón achieved a meritorious seventh place in individual men’s saber.
