The Texan (USA) quarterback Jalen Alexander Hurts, 24, became this Monday the highest paid player in the entire history of the National Football League (NFL, American football), after signing a contract with the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for a modest 50 million dollars a season, something like 47 million euros a year.

The player renewed his contract for five years (until 2028), at €47 M/year, and in total, considering the current numbers he earned in his training in Pennsylvania, he will, in total, receive €142 M until then.

The bond, according to ESPN this Monday, could include another €14 M in goals per objective, if fulfilled, and has a clause that prevents the Eagles (‘eagles’) from exchanging Jalen for any other professional.

The highest annual salary belonged, to date, to Aaron Rodgers, who earns €45 M/year for the Green Bay Packers, and Kyler Murray, with €42/year for the Arizona Cardinals.

It is curious that Jalen Hurts (Hurts means sorrow), who studied at the universities of Alabama (2016 to 2018) and Oklahoma (2019) was only chosen by the Philadelphia Eagles in the second round of the ‘draf’ (prorating, player selection process) of 2022… and as the 53rd choice: now it is the number in annual salary.
