The Idyllic setting of Augusta National Golf Club was shaken yesterday by fierce winds and the splendor became an almost deadly setting. At about 4:22 pm, a few tall pine trees fell close to the tee box of hole 17. The first witness reports showed that no one was injured.

Immediately after that, the organization stopped the game and a little later followed a press release: “Augusta National Golf Club can confirm that no injuries were reported due to three trees blown down by the wind to the left of the tee of hole 17. The safety and well-being of everyone attending the Masters Tournament is always the club’s top priority. We will continue to monitor the weather closely throughout the tournament.”

The Augusta National Golf Club green crew immediately took action to remove the blown trees. Other trees that may jeopardize safety were also tackled.
