USA – Czech Republic 6:2, Czech hockey players enjoyed a moment of glory. Despite the lead, they lost to the giant

The national team was missing captain Alena Mills due to a one-match suspension, so defender Aneta Tejralová got the tag. The United States flew into the game in style and did not let Carly MacLeod’s charge into the offensive zone with the puck for the first five minutes. Already in the 3rd minute, Bilka scored from an angle, but the Czech coaching team correctly detected the offside that preceded the shot and took a successful challenge.

The Czechs then survived the weakening and Denisa Křížová went to the break, but she only found Frankelová’s catcher and the opponent scored the first regular goal on the counterattack. After Murphy’s action, Kellerová was more likely to pass in front of the goal, but the puck slid from the foot of the stick under Škodová into the net.

But the answer came soon thanks to a nice power-up combination. Křížová got her taste and although the puck from the ring did not hit perfectly, the puck went between the concrete and into the goal. The Czech team once again showed an excellent game in weakening and survived even a three-on-five minute game. And from an inconspicuous event, he then took an unexpected lead.

Sára Čajanová won the puck in front of the offensive blue line, space opened up in front of her, and the 20-year-old defender took advantage of the inconsistency in the American defense. She herself burned Frankelová again between the concrete. However, the Czechs did not maintain their lead until the end of the period. Scamurra equalized from a low-key move when she pushed the puck into the net between Škoda’s hand and body with a backhand from the right side.

The United States once again showed an excellent entry into the third. The attacking Edenová surprised Mlýnková behind the goal and quickly turned the puck past the disoriented Škodová – 3:2.

However, the national team did not play badly in the second half. He was able to match the favorite in many aspects and had some interesting chances, he even outshot the American women 8:7. However, instead of comparison, another blow came. Janecke was strong in the goal area and hit the puck out of the air into the net.

MacLeod’s wards still wanted to fight for a surprising result and at the beginning of the last third they created a big tutu. However, Pejzlová, Vanišová, and Tejralová could not push the puck past the lying goalkeeper from close range. And so the penalty came again after only half a minute, Knight presented herself with a successful run in front of Škoda.

The Czechs got plenty of chances to practice their numerical advantages. They played eleven overtimes in a row! In total, the United States received 49 penalty minutes. But they managed the weakening without major problems, in addition, Roque punished the mistake of the centering Mrázová and increased the score to 6:2. The national team did not even convert a five-minute power play, including a 105-second numerical advantage of five against three.

Thanks to the victory, the Americans climbed back one point ahead of Canada to the first place in the table. Tuesday’s head-to-head match will decide the top spot. The Czech team remains third with two points, the quarter-final opponent will be determined by the final match with the last Switzerland, which starts on Wednesday one hour after midnight.
