Adelina Hubner, Elisaveta Orel and Paul Leo Steurer started after a long journey in Hof an der Saale at the Bavarian individual championships, which is the highest qualification level in this age group. It was very impressive for the three judoka from TV Kaufbeuren that the Bavarian anthem was played after the district administrator’s speech at the opening of the championship. All three Kaufbeurers then presented themselves in the best possible way at their first start at state level – in the end there were even two bronze medals.

Paul Leo Steurer starts

Paul Leo Steurer was the first to hit the mat. He had to fight against two opponents that day, once against his developing cold and then against Nils Gast from SV Mühlhausen. Nevertheless, he won the game after 30 seconds with a hip throw. In his second encounter he lost to Adrian Lauber from TSV Abensberg. So Steurer went into the consolation round, in which he took seventh place with one win and one defeat in the full field of participants up to 34 kilos.

Adelina Hubner nervenstark

For the girls, Adelina Hubner started in the weight class up to 40 kilos, which was also full. In her opening match against Ronja Stegmeier from SV Mühlhausen she had to put up with a defeat by grab. Before going through the consolation round, coach Dieter Zimmermann initially did some mental development work. Hubner implemented the instructions flawlessly and scored reliably. She was victorious in all other fights against Felizitas Frauenhofer from Kronwinkel, Evelin Neumeier from TSV Altenfurt and Iris Dunet from TSV Großhadern. In the small final she defeated Ranja Hakverdi from Lauf with a hold and thus deservedly won the bronze medal.

Elisaveta Orel starts well

In the weight class plus 57 kg, the youngest Kaufbeurer participant Elisaveta Orel started, for her it was important to gain competition experience. With four fights, she also worked her way onto the podium – and was delighted with her bronze medal. On April 23, she also wants to fight the U11 district championships, which are held in Kaufbeuren be discharged.

The coach is happy

Trainer Zimmermann then summed it up: “The three young judoka started in the district for the first time. They all achieved their goal of being in the top ten at the Bavarian. Paul will fight the U13 again next year, Elisaveta still has two years ahead of him in the age group. From next year, Adelina will continue in the U15 age group. If they keep up the good work and have so much fun training, we can expect more good placings.”
