Her name is Daphnée Mpetshi Perricard and she was born in 2008. Great hope of French tennis, this young Lyonnaise was retained on the list of “wild-cards” to participate in the next French internationals in Paris. Note however that it is not selected for the first round but for the qualifying tournament which will begin on May 22, a week before the tournament itself.

A record climb

Licensed to the Caluire club, in the suburbs of Lyon, this teenager has climbed the ladder to reach today the rank of 57th French player, all categories combined. She does not yet appear in the international professional women’s ranking. Since last June, Daphnée Mpetshi Perricard has played 81 gamesfor 25 losses and 56 victories.

Note that to be able to access the first round of the Roland-Garros tournament, players must win three consecutive matches.

A family matter

At Mpetshi Perricard, tennis is a family affair. Daphnée’s brother Giovanni was selected for the 1is tournament round. At 19, he is currently listed at 233th world rank (ATP ranking).
