ATP, Roland Garros > Marion Bartoli: “Nadal has pushed his limits and every human body has a limit beyond which it can no longer go. It’s very difficult to assess it, but it’s obvious that… .”

Questioned by our colleagues from The Team on the worrying situation of Rafael Nadal just over two weeks before the start of Roland‐Garros, Marion Bartoli initially estimated that if the Spanish champion was taking so long to recover it was mainly because of his age and of his mentality.

“It’s normal, it’s age (he will be 37 on June 3). We recover less well and Rafa has always had an extremely energy-intensive game. He tugged on the rope many times. I really think that when he won Roland-Garros last year, he was far from being 100% physically. He pushed his limits and every human body has a limit beyond which it can no longer go. Was it his last Australian Open that will be his extreme limit? It’s very difficult to assess it, but it’s obvious that when you’ve pulled so much on the rope for so many years, it’s normal for the body to set a limit at some point. »
