The GAB team

The Grenoble residents will not be complete because the ex-international Élodie Eymard-Brabant (injured) is forfeited, while Laureline Lenoir (ischios) remains uncertain. “It is sure that his absence hurts enough. Élodie has a lot of playing experience on the field. And that touches us on the women’s doubles, ”admits Thiriet. “Afterwards, we have players capable of doing the job too. We will necessarily be less strong, but we remain competitive. »

For Thiriet, the GAB “has a fairly young team. Our strength is that we are very competitive in the head. We really want to give the best bad’ on the ground. In addition, we all know each other very well because we have been at the club for a while. »

The opponents

“In the two pools, there is a team that is a little below (Maisons-Laffitte and ES2B, Cernay). The rest is quite homogeneous, ”explains Jordan Thiriet, coach and player of Grenoble Alpes Badminton. “We are chickenheads; it means that we will be able to play the second meeting and analyze what is happening opposite, between Maisons-Laffitte and Blagnac. »

The GAB will face, on Saturday afternoon, the loser of this first match, then the winner. He will need at least one victory to qualify for the semi-finals, where the 1is and 2 of pool B will cross Sunday morning with the 2 and 1is Pool A (Caen, Cernay and Saint-Grégoire). The two winners of the semi-finals will win their ticket for National 1, with the Bretons of Flume Ille as favorites.

The experience of the play-offs and the public asset

Grenoble Alpes Badminton has already competed in these accession play-offs, in 2022, without success. An experience experienced by Guillaume and Caroline Ougier, Martin Wiering and Jordan Thiriet.

“It’s a pretty rare event. And really different because all the players come with the ambition to move up to the next division. There is a lot more atmosphere and aggressiveness on the ground. This is something that can scare some people…”
