Confirmed! Kundrátek returns to Třinec, and Čiliak ends up in Brno Hokej.cz

In an interview for the club’s website, the owner of extra-league Kometa Libor Zábranský confirmed the departure of defender Tomáš Kundrátek to Třinec. Goalkeeper Marek Čiliak is also leaving the Brno club.

At the end of last week, the newspaper Sport reported on Kundrátek’s upcoming return to the Steelers. It is supposed to be a kind of exchange for forward Tomáš Marcink and defender Lukáš Kaňák, who will be new to Brno.

After coming to Kometa in the summer, Kundrátek’s performance exceeded expectations, he scored a below-average fifteen points in 39 games of the regular season.

He came alive in the playoffs and recorded three goals and four assists in ten starts. Brno nevertheless decided to release Kundrátek. “After the mutual agreement of all parties, he is returning to Třinec,” informs Zábranský on the website hc-kometa.cz.

Kundrátek, who is currently in contention for a World Cup nomination, played for the Steelers from 2019 to 2022 and helped them to two titles. Thanks to his great performances on the club scene, he himself won an invitation to the last Olympic Games in Beijing, he was also present at last year’s bronze championship in Tampere.

Now he returns to Třinec, which brings another big name to Jakub Jeřábek. And in connection with the new champions, there is also speculation about the return of Martin Gernát and the signing of the Vítkovice leader Patrik Koch!
