FC Bayern – Karin Danner goes – Sport

Longtime manager Karin Danner is leaving the FC Bayern Munich soccer team on June 30 at her own request. Bianca Rech, who has been team manager and sporting director since 2016, will take over her position as head of department. Under Danner, the Munich team became champions three times (most recently in 2021) and won the DFB Cup in 2015. “Our women’s soccer department is her life’s work – and that’s more than successful,” said club president Herbert Hainer. The chairman of the board, Oliver Kahn, added that the 64-year-old “had a lasting influence on this unique success story as a player and above all as a manager” and that the club “owed her an immense debt of gratitude”. Rech also praised her predecessor. Danner, who came to Bayern Munich as an 18-year-old and ended her playing career there in 1993, will “leave a big gap. She laid the foundation for everything here,” she said.
