Six board members of the football association raised the alarm on Tuesday evening by sending a letter to the board of directors of the RBFA to raise the difficult relationship and the crisis of confidence with chairman Paul Van den Bulck. “We feel no mutual respect and no confidence from the chairman,” it says in the letter that our editors were able to view. With the letter, the management hopes to increase the pressure on the board of directors to appoint a new chairman.

The letter also states that a report was made internally last week for bullying and intimidation by Van den Bulck. According to our information, there is also a complaint against the chairman of the association for the same reasons. Mensura, an external service for prevention and protection, has an official request for a formal psychosocial intervention due to harassment at work.

Van den Bulck was previously the driving force behind the departure of CEO Peter Bossaert and now also came into conflict with various board members of the football association. In the letter, the management denounced Van den Bulck’s meddling and believes that it cannot continue the work it has done in recent years. Two long-serving members of the executive committee are currently at home on a doctor’s order.

The board of directors met on Wednesday morning and the matter was discussed in the presence of Van den Bulck. Among other things, there was a proposal for mediation on the table, but that did not seem to be the case. “No comment”, was all Van den Bulck wanted to say when we got on the phone to ask for a response. On Friday the news came out that Van den Bulck is stepping down as chairman of the association.
