On his return to action in front of his supporters at Petco Park in San Diego, Fernando Tatis Jr. was welcomed with open arms on Tuesday night.
Suspended 80 games in August 2022 for use of clostebol, an anabolic steroid for which he tested positive, Tatis Jr. had not yet played at home since the events.
Recall that according to Fernando Tatis father, his son was treated for a ringworm that appeared on the side of his neck. He used Trofobol, which contained clostebol. He also tested positive for neomycin, an antibiotic contained in Trofobol.
Having not played major league baseball for several months, Tatis Jr began training with the El Paso Chihuahuas, the AAA squad of the San Diego Padres.
He eventually joined the team on the road, just in time to compete in the Mexican Series against the San Francisco Giants.
He then made his comeback, to much fanfare, against the Cincinnati Reds.
According to his manager Bob Melvin, the fans received Tatis Jr very well, as he expected.
The organization also appears to have moved on, as has the 24-year-old.
Year to date, Tatis Jr is batting .275 with 14 hits and six RBIs in 11 games. He allows his team to stay in the young race of the West division of the National.
- The Cardinals are hoping to get back up.
- Liam Hendriks is on his way back.
