In Rome, Ostapenko reached the semi-finals, where she lost to Yelena Rybakina of Kazakhstan.

Meanwhile, 21-year-old Peyton reached the WTA finals for the first time in her career in April, losing to Germany’s Tatiana Maria in the 250-point series competition in Bogota. She also lost the W-100 in Charleston in the title match, but won the W-60 title in Georgia before that.

Ostapenko’s win-loss record this season is 19-11, while her opponent’s record is 31-8, mostly playing in ITF competitions.

The Latvian tennis player is playing in Paris for the eighth time, becoming the winner in 2017, defeating the Romanian Simona Halep in the final with 4-6, 6-4, 6-3. Last year, in the match of the second round, Ostapenko recognized the superiority of the French tennis player Alizee Cornet in three sets.
