On Sunday May 21, bargain hunters crowded under the foliage of the tall trees in the castle park in Chamouilley for the flea market organized by the Judo-club. Some, abandoning the late morning Sunday rest, were already waiting for the opening of the doors to exhibitors, from 6.15 a.m. dovecote, in the depths of the park. Amaury Limelette, president of the Judo-club of Chamouilley, was delighted with this complete success: “This is our second flea market and I am very happy to see that the exhibitors and the visitors were there, it rewards the work of the fifteen volunteers who worked hard”. If the usual stands of clothing, toys, utensils and various and varied tools were present, there is one that stood out from the others, that of Sébastien Gauthier, of Saint-Dizier, who presented his collection of Indian figurines. “I’ve always been drawn to Indians,” he explains, “by their way of life, their closeness to the land, the peace and wisdom they seem to have acquired.” His collection began about twenty years ago and he keeps it alive, selling and buying statuettes. Children had taken out of the cupboards books and toys they no longer had use of, after properly measuring the emotional attachment linked to some of them. Of course, there were still objects to be packed up at the end of the afternoon, but no matter, they will feature prominently at the next garage sale.
