Gusts of wind knock down trees and damage homes in Veracruz

Veracruz. – The strong north winds that hit Veracruz territory knocked down trees and damaged vehicles and homes, although the authorities did not report injuries, in the port of Veracruz, the gusts reached a speed of 123 kilometers per hour; in Xalapa it was between 60 and 70 kilometers per hour, unusual in the spring season.

According to what was reported by the National Water Commission, the storm that hit the central region of the state was derived from Cold Front number 52.

In Xalapa, the firefighters maintained relief activities because in different parts of the municipality there were reports of downed trees; in the area of ​​the State Congress two vans were damaged. On the outskirts, a horse that was used to carry wood died when a tree fell on it. Its owner was saved.

In municipalities such as Actopan, Medellín, Cotaxtla and La Antigua, mango production that was weeks away from being harvested fell from the trees. The producers doubt that they can salvage anything that the wind knocked down.

In the Veracruz-Boca del Río suburban area, violent gusts toppled poles and there were power outages that caused traffic lights to go out, causing road problems.
