Soccer J1’s Kashiwa Reysol has announced that manager Nelsinho has resigned due to poor results, and Masami Ihara, who is currently the head coach, will be appointed as the new manager.

Reysol have won just two of their 13 league games this season and sit in 16th place.

After losing the match against Yokohama FC on the 13th of this month, the club discussed with Nelsinho and decided to retire with mutual consent.

Brazilian-born 72-year-old Nelsinho took over as manager of Reysol in the middle of the 2009 season, and led the club to its first J1 victory in the 2011 season when it was promoted to J1.

In the following season, they also won the Emperor’s Cup.

After that, he temporarily left the club, but from 2019 he led Reysol again and has been in charge for a total of 11 seasons.

Mr. Masami Ihara, 55 years old from Shiga Prefecture, will be appointed as the new director.

During his active career, he was active as a defender for Yokohama F. Marinos, etc., and participated in a total of 122 games for the Japanese national team.
