Jujitsu runner-up Sandra Badie dies aged 31

“Sandra Badie, vice-world champion 2022, 3rd in the last World Games, died this night (from Thursday to Friday), following a cardiac arrest”, wrote France Jujitsu on her Facebook page, Friday May 19.

Following this announcement, the French Judo Federation, on which depends this sport combining several martial arts, expressed his “tremendous sadness”. At the World Games, in July 2022 in Birmingham, USA, Sandra Badie had won bronze in her -48 kg category, before going for the title with the French team in the mixed team event.

She also got a silver medal at the world championships held in Abu Dhabi in the fall of 2022. The Judo Club of Soumoulou, in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques, where she was fired, saluted the memory of this fighter, several times champion of France.

“Iconic personality of the Soumoulou judo club, she will leave a big void all around her,” added the club on its Facebook page.
