Former Málaga striker Sergio Contreras, ‘Koke’, who also played for French Olympique de Marseille and Greek Aris Thessaloniki, among other clubs, has acknowledged leading a criminal network dedicated to buying large amounts of drugs that were later transported in trucks to European countries and has settled for a sentence of six years in prison.
The trial began on March 27.but it was suspended due to the fact that a defendant was missing who, since she could not be located, her search and capture was ordered and she was declared in absentia to be able to continue with the oral hearing, since the defense lawyer himself explained to the court that the woman was in destitute conditions.
In the dock of the defendants this Tuesday there were 17 defendantsincluding the 40-year-old former Málaga player who retired from elite football at Aris Thessaloniki in 2016, and his brother, and all have acknowledged their participation in the events.
Due to this recognition there was a break in the hearing for the prosecutor to make a modification of the sentencesafter which each of them will be sentenced to sentences ranging from six years (those who were part of the organization) to two years for which they are accused of a specific crime without being part of the criminal network.
The prosecutor in the case will present the accusations in writing tomorrow Wednesdaybut this Tuesday he has advanced them in Court and, after listening to them, each one of the defendants has conformed and they have made it known to the presiding magistrate out loud so that it is recorded in the minutes.
The magistrate has announced that the sentence will be handed down in the next few days and it will be in accordance with the penalties set forth by the prosecutor and, therefore, after recognition of the facts, it will be final and cannot be appealed.
