Logan Mailloux makes the difference

Montreal Canadiens prospect Logan Mailloux played heroes Sunday by scoring the game-winning goal late in the third period for the London Knights, who beat the Sarnia Sting 3-1.

The defender, who found the back of the net on the power play, gave his team a 2-0 lead in the Western final of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL).

In addition to his goal, Mailloux directed three shots on the opposing net and received two penalty minutes. In Game 1, he was shut out of the scoresheet but posted a +2 differential in a 4-1 win.

Since the start of the playoffs, the 20-year-old guard has amassed 11 points, including five goals, in 11 games. He also shows a +7 differential and has made 44 shots.

Owen Beck’s team bows out

The other surviving Canadiens prospect in the OHL playoffs, Owen Beck, was less fortunate.

The Peterborough Petes went down 3-1 against the North Bay Battalion. In the backhand, Beck got an assist.

The East final is tied 1-1 as the Petes won 3-2 on Friday. Beck had also scored a goal and an assist.

The 19-year-old has amassed 10 points, including four goals, in 12 games since the start of the playoffs. He also showed a +4 differential.
