Mauvezin: the Judo-Club is about to celebrate its 50th anniversary

The activity of the Mauvezinian Judo-Club has been very busy since the start of this 2022-2023 season. The passages of grades continue according to the sessions, according to the investment and the progress of each of the students.

The February course with master Jacques Seguin, 8th Dan, brought together highly motivated judokas for a high quality performance.

A dozen students participate assiduously in the various departmental competitions and systematically offer the club podiums. Three competitors were selected for the Critérium Zone Ouest, in Tarbes.

The club’s judokas behaved very well and one of them was selected for the Criterium regional Occitanie which took place in Toulouse on April 23rd. Despite good fights, this one could not qualify for the final stages.

A course, offered only to club licensees, also took place on April 15 and 16. Two judo sessions, including one on the “Kodomo no kata”, were planned. This kata specifically dedicated to children constitutes a technical progression to approach the fundamentals of the practice of judo. Club members and judokas spent the night on the tatami after playing a few games, karaoke and watching a video about the life of the club since its creation in 1973.

50th anniversary

The club will therefore have existed for 50 years this year, thanks to its founders Maurice Cabassy and Brunette Cabassy, ​​helped by other people to assume this responsibility. The current office will study how to celebrate this event, but everything suggests that it will be a manifestation in the spirit of the club, that is to say, simple, discreet and humble.

The traditional end-of-year trip will take place on June 17, at AnimaParc.

The Mauvezin Judo-Club would like to congratulate all of its leaders as well as all the licensees for their attendance and commitment. He especially thanks all the competitors who accumulate the good results and participate in fact in the notoriety of the club on the territory of the department, but also in the Occitanie region.
