Mercedes won the opening practice session at the Miami F1 GP, Russell was the fastest

Twenty-five-year-old Russell clocked the fastest time of 1:30.125 in the final itself. At the beginning of training, on the other hand, he was not satisfied with the car’s handling and the mechanics changed his steering rod in the pits. Practice was also interrupted for a while after Haas’ Nico Hülkenberg’s accident.

Championship leader Verstappen lost 0.424 seconds to Russell. The Dutchman is defending last year’s triumph in Miami and will try to maintain his lead at the top of the championship. Heading into the fifth race of the season, he leads team-mate Sergio Pérez by six points. The Mexican drove up to the eleventh time in training.
