Observed by BVB since U14: FC St. Paulis Roggow goes into the 3rd division

He was one of the top performers in the U17s, then in the U19s, now in the U23s. However, Franz Roggow (20) did not make it to an assignment with the pros at FC St. Pauli – “in view of the strong competition in his regular positions in midfield”, as sports director Andreas Bornemann summarized. Now the Brandenburg native is moving to BVB, where he will join Dortmund’s third division team.

Performance data from Franz Roggow

“I spent five exciting and instructive years at FC St. Pauli, which helped me a lot as a footballer and as a person. I will always have fond memories of being able to take my first steps as a professional here,” explained Roggow, who came back from a serious foot injury last year. The BVB scouts had already noticed the talent in the U14. Ingo Preuss, sporting director of Borussia’s U23s, explained: “We’ve been watching Franz for a number of years and we’re glad that we were able to sign him now. He will add a lot of momentum and creativity to our game.”
