The 3:4 in the northern derby between Holstein Kiel and FC St. Pauli has a lot to offer. There is confusion about an alleged own goal. When saying goodbye to eleven people from Kiel, things get emotional.
Dhe assignment of the goal scorers in the north derby of Holstein Kiel in the second division north derby against FC St. Pauli also caused confusion for Marcel Rapp. “St. Pauli shot at goal five times, we put in two of our own,” said the Holstein coach after the Storks lost 4-3 on Friday evening. The 44-year-old assumed that the 4-1 was an own goal by Mikkel Kirkeskov. At that point, however, the goal from the 74th minute had already been credited to St. Paul’s Leart Paqarada.
The 15,034 spectators in the sold-out Holstein Stadium also saw goals from Steven Skrzybski (28th penalty), Marco Komenda (78th) and Fabian Reese (90th + 3) for Holstein as well as Oladapo Afolayan (39th minute) and Lukas Daschner (61st) for the Hamburgers. They also benefited from an own goal by Hauke Wahl (53′). Above all, the spectators saw a gripping game that offered a lot of emotions even before the kick-off.
The Kielers said goodbye to eleven players who will leave the club after the season. This included two very special figures in Fin Bartels and Wahl. Both were trained at KSV and became the faces of the club. While Wahl is said to be about to move to FC St. Pauli, Bartels is ending his career.
Besides his farewell and his own goal mishap, Kiel’s captain Hauke Wahl had a third reason to be sad. In the ninth minute of injury time, the 29-year-old saw his tenth yellow card and will now miss the season finale on May 28 at Hannover 96. “It hurts, but on the other hand I played my last game at the Holstein Stadium ‘ said Wahl.
At St. Pauli, Oladapo Afolayan will not be able to take part in the last home game against Karlsruher SC. The 25-year-old saw the yellow-red card because he had re-entered the field after treatment without the referee’s permission. “I saw a sign from the referee,” the attacker justified himself.
HSV expects Fürth
Whether FC St. Pauli still has a chance of promotion – even if only a small one – will be decided on Saturday evening when HSV meets Fürth. The Volksparkstadion is again sold out with almost 57,000 spectators. Should HSV have to go into relegation, the club can play in the second leg against the Bundesliga-16 on June 5th. at least expect a filled arena again.
