Suns narrow shortlist for coaching job

The Phoenix Suns have narrowed their shortlist for the head coach job to three candidates. According to the journalist Arizona Sports 98.7John Gambadoro, Doc Rivers, Frank Vogel and Kevin Young make up the final list of candidates for the position.

A week ago an initial list of five finalists was shared, from which Nick Nurse, who recently signed with the Philadelphia 76ers, and Jordi Fernández, whose future has also been linked to the Toronto Raptors, have been excluded.

Young, assistant coach since 2020 of former coach Monty Williams, has significant support within the organization to promote to the position of head coach, including that of the team’s star, Devin Booker. However, to his credit it is found that he is the only one of the final three candidates with no previous experience as a head coach.

Rivers has won a total of 1,860 regular-season games and 111 playoff games with four different franchises since 1999, while Vogel has managed three teams since 2010, amassing 820 regular-season wins and 49 more in the postseason. And they both know what it’s like to win a ring. According to Gambadoro, the Suns could announce the hiring of their new head coach later this week.
