Ylena In-Albon (WTA 148) is in the main draw of a Grand Slam tournament for the second time in her career. In-Albon, who celebrated her premiere in the main tableau of a major tournament in Wimbledon 2022, showed fighting qualities after clearly losing the starting set and caught up a 0:2 deficit in the second round. In-Albon was 4-2 behind in the deciding set before winning 14 of the last 16 rallies. With Simona Waltert (WTA 172), a second Swiss could survive the qualification. Stricker fails at Tirante

Dominic Stricker missed the first jump into the main draw of a Grand Slam tournament. The Swiss world number 116 lost in the third and final qualifying round for the French Open to Argentinian Thiago Agustin Tirante (ATP 153) 3-6, 6-1, 1-6. Stricker had fought back after losing the starting set, but had no chance in the decisive round. The 20-year-old hit more winners than his opponent (27 to 21), but also made almost twice as many unforced errors (32 to 17). After 1:47 hours he had to congratulate Tirante on the victory. The left-hander, seeded number 9 in qualifying, now has to hope for cancellations and luck of the draw in order to still be able to move into the main draw as a lucky loser.
