With less than a month left to celebrate five years of the Sesé Bike Tour solidarity race, in the town of Urrea de Gaén in Turol, the attendance of illustrious runners such as Pruden Induráin, Carlos Hernández, Susana Luaces, as well as the former goalkeeper César Láinez . The event will also have the support of Miguel Induráin, a regular at this race that will bring together professionals and amateurs on May 21, 2023 to pedal in favor of mental health care for children and youth. Within the framework of the tenth anniversary of the Sesé Foundation, the technical manager of the routes will also be honored, the Aragonese cyclist Adolfo Bello, who turns 90, 75 of them on wheels.

Like every year, this charity race will bring together the elite of professional cycling with fans and society in general to pedal for a cause. If before it was Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, childhood cancer, a soup kitchen or those affected by the war in Ukraine, this edition will allocate its proceeds to ASAPME-Aragón (Aragonese Association for Mental Health), specifically to equip, furnish and support your program “El Sitio de mi Re-Creo”.

This space will offer psychological care for minors, family therapy or educational support to more than one hundred people a year throughout Aragon, including rural areas, by providing the space with adequate technology to provide online care. All this with one objective: to work on mental health care, prevention and the comprehensive development of children and youth, a particularly sensitive population after the pandemic.

For this reason, some of the great runners of our country could not miss this appointment, true examples in their respective disciplines. On the one hand, Carlos Hernández, winner of the world mountain biking championship in 2017; as well as the cyclist Susana Luaces, one of the best positioned Aragonese athletes with numerous national and international honors in running, mountain and Ironman championships. This list of elite athletes will be joined by César Láinez Sanjuán, former Real Zaragoza goalkeeper, coach and football radio commentator, as well as Pruden Induráin and the support of his brother, the four-time Tour de France champion Miguel Induráin, who for reasons of agenda will not be able to attend like every year. However, the ex-cyclist wanted to encourage all fans to sign up, “since the race takes place on very attractive terrain to enjoy the bike, the landscape and our sport. But if on top of that you can help a cause or a group, then much better”.

In addition, all the participants will celebrate together the five years of this charity event on wheels thanks to the welcome bag that, among other things, includes a jersey with a special design for the tenth anniversary of Fundación Sesé, as well as a collar and more surprises with a value of more than 29 euros.

Adolfo Bello, a life dedicated to cycling

The event will include a tribute to one of the most beloved figures in the sport on wheels: the runner Adolfo Bello, who turns 90, 75 of them on two wheels. From a family from Teruel, born in Sangüesa but raised and raised in Aragon, his role has been fundamental in Aragonese cycling as a successful professional rider, club coach, regional coach, federation director and organizer of different events and exhibitions, such as the Sesé Bike Tour. For more than 40 years he was in charge of the Ebro Cycling Club and, since its foundation, he has also been president of the El Pedal Aragonés cycling club. In the 1990s, together with Ángel Giner, he promoted the Movement in Defense of the Bicycle (MDB), participating together with the rest of the urban cycling scene in the first Zaragoza Bicycle Table, the germ of the current project for a peaceful and cycleable city.

Solidarity pedaling for all people

Designed by El Pedal Aragonés and the Sesé Foundation, this sports cycle offers two routes so that both professionals and amateurs can enjoy a unique day among the untamed landscapes of Teruel: Bajo Martín, Sierra de Arcos and Maestrazgo, crossing towns such as Ariño, Alloza , Andorra, Mas de las Matas, Alcorisa, Seno, Molinos or Albalate, among others

Included in the calendar of the Aragonese Cycling Federation and the Spanish Cycling Federation, its route runs through a territory with a lot of unevenness and three mountain passes. It consists of three options: 155 kilometers in free speed, a short route of 78 km and a 25 km BTT march for people with intellectual disabilities together with Special Olympics Aragón.

In addition, this year the celebration of the II NATIONAL MILITARY ROAD CYCLING CHAMPIONSHIP is incorporated into the Sesé Bike Tour. It is organized by the Central Board of Physical Education and Sports of the Civil Guard, by designation of the Superior Council of Military Sports. The teams representing the Civil Guard and the Army, Navy, Air, Royal Guard and Military Emergency Unit participate. This championship contributes to enhance their physical value, enrich the cultural baggage, share experiences and increase interpersonal relationships to increase the bonds of camaraderie between the components of the Armed Forces and the Civil Guard.

This race promoted by Fundación Sesé seeks every year to be a speaker of the most urgent challenges. In addition, it is celebrated in the small Teruel town of Urrea de Gaén, the town of origin of the Sesé family, thus also being a reason to bring activity to emptied Spain and revitalize the territory. This entity celebrates ten years in 2023 working to generate opportunities for social and labor development that improve people’s quality of life. Recently, her work has been recognized in the Social Work category at the XIX Edition of the April 3 Awards for her “Essentials” program, prepared in collaboration with the Down Zaragoza Foundation.
