A total of 25 professional players from 12 LaLiga Santander and LaLiga SmartBank clubs have been trained thanks to the second edition of LaLiga’s ‘Global Players Program’, through its LaLiga Business School educational department.
Promoted by Banco Santander and in collaboration with AFE (Association of Spanish Soccer Players), App de Players and PortAventura World, the ‘Global Players Program’ is “definitively consolidated as the best training option” for professional soccer players.
LaLiga is the only national soccer competition in the world with an option like this for its players. The 25 players who were part of this second edition studied various streaming content for 5 months, with 8 webinars focused on digital strategy, new technologies or the day-to-day life of the clubs.
Once the competition was over, this week the face-to-face sessions took place in Madrid for three days, in which the footballers received different face-to-face ‘master classes’.
On the first day, they received a presentation by the president of LaLiga, Javier Tebas, as well as executives Óscar Mayo and Javier Gómez. The other two days they were received by other LaLiga professionals such as Marta Alonso, deputy to the corporate general management, or Luis Gil, director of LaLiga competitions, in addition to attending a round table with former soccer players Augusto Fernández and Roberto Jiménez.
All the members of the course had the former Rayo Vallecano soccer player, Alberto García, as a guide. In addition, as a novelty this year and thanks to the agreement between LaLiga and AFE regarding training, a small quota of places has been opened for AFE associated players.
“In short, a successful second edition of the Global Players Program that demonstrates LaLiga’s commitment to training, which it considers the basis for facing the professional future with the necessary preparation,” LaLiga concluded in its statement.
