Alex Mynářová on her son’s illness: I was surprised by how mature…

Moderator Alex Mynářová is raising two sons with her husband Vratislav Mynář, former head of the presidential office. The older one has been dealing with serious health problems since birth. The sympathetic dark-haired woman has now spoken to Kafe.cz about how, as a mother, she experienced a challenging life period full of doctor visits. Little Vratislav has just finished a year’s demanding treatment.

Children’s health problems are a very difficult topic for every mother. The presenter of Czech Radio is no longer afraid to talk about him. “It’s not even such an unpleasant topic anymore, because thanks to the doctors from Nephrology at the Motol University Hospital, it’s on the right track,” she explained to Kafe.cz.

“My son was diagnosed with severe glomerulonephritis based on a kidney biopsy. Simply put, it’s chronic inflammation, an autoimmune disease. At a certain point, his kidneys failed, so a biological treatment was started, which helped reverse the worst,” explained Alex Mynářová, explaining what her son’s serious illness consisted of.

Fortunately, the boy’s health has improved. “Now he has finished his treatment and we will wait to see how it develops. It’s going well so far and we hope it stays that way. But his kidneys will never be in full condition again, they are irreversibly damaged,” the presenter described the prospects for the future.

I was surprised how mature he was about it

If everything goes as well as it has so far, Alex Mynářová’s son will have almost no restrictions in the future. “We will be happy if it remains as it is now, that is, that the son takes medication for a long time, but is not limited to sports activities and anything he likes,” said the handsome dark-haired woman with hope in her voice.

“For myself as a mother, I have to say that my son surprised me very much, how brave he was and how he approached it like an adult – he respected the doctors’ instructions and tolerated temporary restrictions very well,” Alex Mynářová proudly described.
