Jannik Sinner left the court in Halle early

The first set started evenly. Both players were able to serve through their service games with ease. Bublik only managed the first break of the day on the center court in Halle when the score was 4:3. Sinner, who grabbed his upper left thigh in between, was then able to fight the re-break, as Bublik showed weaknesses in his own service for the first time. But Bublik was able to put his opponent under pressure again with good returns and secured the first set 7:5.

The South Tyrolean then left the court for a break in treatment. After almost ten minutes, the Italian, who was fourth in the tournament, tried again. However, it quickly became apparent that there was a clear restriction, especially in the running area. So Sinner had to give up the match after the first two games of the second set, both of which went to Bublik.

Bublik against Zverev or Jarry

For Jannik Sinner, it will now only be about not jeopardizing participation in Wimbledon. Instead, Alexander Bublik will play in the semi-finals on Saturday against Alexander Zverev or Niolas Jarry for the final. For the powerful Kazakh, who reached the final at the grass tournament in Newport last year, both opponents are certainly not an impossible task.
