Alpha Tauri will change its name from the 2024 season according to Helmut Marko

After four short seasons of existence, is the name Alpha Tauri destined to disappear from the Formula 1 grid? This was announced by Helmut Marko in an interview with the Austrian media Kleine Zeting. The octogenarian who reigns over the Red Bull stables says: “the team will have new leaders with Laurent Mekies and Peter Bayer, new sponsors and also a new name. The orientation is clear: to be based on Red Bull Racing, insofar as the regulations allow it. »

After being called Toro Rosso from 2006 to 2019, the team based in Faenza (Italy) had become Alpha Tauri from the 2020 season to promote the clothing brand attached to Red Bull. If Marko did not share any track for the new name, he also preserved the suspense at the level of the pilots, especially concerning one of the two. “Yuki (Tsunoda) is having a very good season with unfortunate results and penalties but the performance is correct. On the other hand, we are not satisfied with Nyck de Vries, we will look into that too. »

Many names have already been mentioned to replace the Dutchman, who is playing his first full season in F1 at the age of 28. More or less well-founded rumors ranging from Daniel Ricciardo (past test and reserve driver for Red Bull this year) to Liam Lawson (member of the Red Bull industry who now plays in Super Formula in Japan) via Alex Palou, the leader of the Indycar Championship (and 2021 champion) who is trying by all possible means to find a future in F1.
