The shadow of racism haunts Spanish sport again. But yesterday it was not in football, where the number of ‘hooligans’ usually multiplies that of other sports, but in basketball. Despite the culé triumph and the title achieved last night, Jasikevicius acknowledged that there is a certain sadness in the dressing room due to the insults received upon his arrival at Wizink. “It just can’t be. It is unfortunate. It just can’t be. A lot was heard talking about Vinicius. And he has to stop now. (…) We are going to fight against this, it is more important than the title ».
He brought up the name of the Real Madrid soccer player, who a few weeks ago denounced racist insults at the Mestalla, and asked to fight the scourge of racism together: “I don’t care if he’s a Real Madrid, Barcelona or any other player equipment. We have to control this, we have to fight against this and we are going to fight for this.”
