Borussia Dortmund: Now there is bitter certainty – Juwel is leaving BVB

Borussia Dortmund had all the trumps in their hands: Thanks to a purchase option, BVB could decide for themselves whether Justin Njinmah should stay. The jewel drew attention to itself with impressive performances in the U23s. Quite a few already attest him Bundesliga format.

But what many had feared is now bitter certainty: Borussia Dortmund has announced the departure of the talent. After just one year, Njinmah is going back to Werder Bremen. Why is BVB separating from the promising winger?

His commitment was strange, his departure is also. At the beginning of 2022, Justin Njinmah signed his first professional contract in Bremen, only to move to Dortmund on loan a day later. There he should strengthen the U23 – and possibly also recommend himself for the professionals.

The 22-year-old managed to do all of this. Njinmah was the star in Dortmund’s second team – 18 goals involved are by far the best value in the black and yellow’s rather mediocre third division season. With 13 goals, he broke the almost ten-year-old goal record of BVB-U23. With every strong game played by the Hamburg player, the fans’ hopes of a permanent commitment after the loan grew. Edin Terzic also came out as a big fan of the youngster.

But now the obligation is off the table. Borussia Dortmund has officially announced the farewell to Njinmah. After a year and a half, I’m going back to Bremen. Werder rubs his hands. Sports director Clemens Fritz recently described him as a “weapon” and publicly expressed his hopes of a return. But why is BVB giving up the talented winger again?

This is probably due to the amount of the purchase option. For a long time it was said that a fixed transfer fee of one million euros was anchored in the contract. But then it transpired that the sum is three times as high. Three million euros were probably too much for the BVB officials for a player who still has to prove his suitability for the Bundesliga.

More recent news:

A severe blow, especially for Borussia Dortmund’s U23s. In the past season, she had her problems, especially offensively. Now the top scorer also leaves the team. Besides him, Can Özkan, Niklas Lübcke, Aday Ercan, Timo Bornemann, Marco Pasalic and Niklas Dams will also go.
