Cantu’s flop. The leadership divided over Sacchetti

There is an air of rift on the confirmation of the coach after the elimination in the playoff semifinals

The management of Pallacanestro Cantù is divided, perhaps even splits, over the future of coach Romeo Sacchetti. Among the members of the board (plus a few influential figures who always have a say in these cases) there would be no unity of purpose for the confirmation of the former national team coach after the failure to reach the final for promotion to Serie A.

The situation, therefore, would be more smoky than ever and talks with the coach will start very soon, probably delegated to the general manager Alessandro Santoro, whose contract renewal (which would have taken place automatically in case of landing upstairs) should not be in discussion.

Sacchetti still has a year on his contract, he hasn’t officially expressed himself yet, but he doesn’t seem at all willing to resign. Therefore, should the managerial fringe prevail that pushes for an early divorce, the risk would be that of starting with a situation similar to last season with Marco Sodini, that is, with two coaches on the payroll.

We will probably understand more of this next week, when the board of directors meets for the first time after the Casale Monferrato debacle. So far, in fact, the contacts have mostly been remote and on the phone.
