Carlos Alcaraz does not stop his walk on grass. The Spaniard gave a tennis class again this Thursday and is in Queen’s ATP 500 quarter-final.

The Murcian was much more than the Czech Jiri Lehecka (36th in the world) in the London tournament. The No. 2 in the ATP ranking lived the first duel of his career against the Czech after beating Frenchman Arthur Rinderknech in three sets in the debut of the season on grass.

And, once again, he left no doubt: it was a resounding 6-2 and 6-3 in one hour and 27 minutes of play in which he made 3 of 9 break chances while saving the three he suffered with his service.

This week, Alcaraz plays to recover the number one in the world before Wimbledon. For this he will need to win a tournament that only Rafael Nadal (2008) and Feliciano López (2017 and 2019) have won in the history of Spanish tennis. For this reason, it was barely three steps from the top

With the 500 points that Queen’s gives to the champion, the Murcian could surpass Novak Djokovic, who has an advantage of 420 points and who will not play before Wimbledon, where he has not lost since 2017.

Alcaraz, who missed the tournament in 2022 due to an elbow problem, is in the third official tournament that he has played on grass, after Wimbledon in 2021 and 2022, where he reached the second round and the round of 16, respectively.
