Caune Wins 5000-Meter Race in European Team Championship

Caune won the 5000-meter race on Tuesday in the second division of the European Team Championship, finishing in 15 minutes and 15.21 seconds.

In the competition of the third league, none of the participants covered the distance faster, but on Friday, in the competition of the strongest division, the victory was won by the Italian Nadja Batocleti with a result of 15 minutes and 25.09 seconds, ranking second in the European Games competition, while British athlete Hena Natola, who in the first place, won the bronze medal in the European Games finished 4.4 seconds behind Batokleti in the division.

This year, the European Team Championship is part of the 2023 European Games, the results of all three divisions being counted in the European Games ranking.

The first two divisions have 16 teams each, while the third division consists of the other registered European Athletics Union teams.

At the third European Games, Latvia is represented by 96 athletes in 17 sports.

The competition will take place from June 21 to July 2 in Krakow and other cities of the Lesser Poland Voivodeship.

The European Games take place once every four years. The first games were held in 2015 in Baku, and the second in 2019 in Minsk.
