Danubio was reunited with victory and beat Huracán 1-0 at the Centenario

Danubio beat Huracán 1-0 at the Centenario Stadium for the penultimate date of the group stage of the Copa Sudamericana. Guillermo May, from a penalty at minute 83, scored the winning goal for Franjeado, who climbed to second place in group B and reached 7 points.

The team led by Esteban Conde was reunited with victory after 10 games and 2 months. The last triumph of the Jardines team had been against Emelec on April 6.

First time

Huracán had the first arrival of the game at 3′, through a shot from Gauto that passed by Goicoechea’s stick, who accompanied the movement of the ball with his gaze.

The visiting team generated again at 18′, when defender Gastón Sauro rose in the area and hit a header that went aimlessly and was lost outside. Danubio responded with an isolated shot by Diego Vera, which did not hinder goalkeeper Lucas Chaves.

In the 21st minute, Godoy tried for Huracán and the distant shot of the number 11 was controlled by Mauro Goicoechea, who did not provide any rebound.

When 25 minutes elapsed, Benítez observed García’s pike and set him up very well, he got rid of Goicoechea who came out to drown and the control was long, so the situation did not end in a shot on goal. Huracán also had the last of the first part, through a shot by Valentín Sánchez that found Goicoechea well placed.

During the first 45′, Huracan was somewhat superior to Danubio, generating the clearest situations, although without too much fluidity when it came to developing the game, but the Striped simply had a shot, by Vera, and failed to cross the middle of the field with continuity or clarity.

Second time

There was a clear drop in the rate of completion in relation to the procedure that could be observed throughout the first half. The striped team came out to play with another initiative and improved, although without too much depth, while the visiting cast did not find the spaces they had in the first half.

At 70′, the local team generated their second arrival in the entire match. After a counter, Guillermo May appeared alone inside the area, but the definition went to the hands of the visit goalkeeper, Chaves.

The entry of Jannenson Sarmiento changed the face of those led by Conde and in minute 78 Danubio generated the clearest situation of the entire second half. The Colombian soccer player dribbled the defender and after individual action he finished off powerfully, but the Huracán goalkeeper’s response was very good, sending the ball into the corner kick.

When 83 minutes of the game had elapsed, after a mixed play, the ball landed in Soto’s hand and at the request of the video arbitration, the main judge whistled a penalty in favor of Danubio, which Guillermo May with great definition was in charge of changing for goal.
