BASEBALL. The memory of Manon Salvas was honored in a special way at the Drummondville Donald-Mace pee-wee baseball tournament.

On the occasion of the opening night, Thursday, at Messier Park, organizer Yannick Powers announced that the women’s class of the tournament will now be named in honor of Manon Salvas. Members of the family of the great lady of Drummondville baseball were on hand during the ceremony.

A long-time volunteer in the regional sports community, Manon Salvas died last March following a long battle with cancer.

Bringing together 54 teams from across the province, the 36th Donald-Mace pee-wee tournament will be held at Messier and Celanese parks as well as at the Bénévoles fields, in the Saint-Nicéphore sector. The A and female categories will be in action from June 22 to 25, while the B and AA classes will take over from June 29 to July 2. Participants are under the age of 13.

The game schedule is available on the tournament’s Facebook page. Proceeds from the event will be donated to Drummondville minor baseball.
