Baggott said he was looking forward to going through the pre-season with Ipswich after strengthening the Indonesian national team.
Indonesian mulatto defender Elkan Baggott keeps hope of keeping Ipswich Town alive, so he can feel the atmosphere of the English Championship Division next season.
Ipswich will appear in the Championship Division after finishing second in the final standings of the 2022/23 League. Baggott returns to Ipswich after his loan spells at Gillingham and Cheltenham Town ended.
Baggott enjoyed fine game time for Gillingham in League Two making 27 appearances, two of which were off the bench. Baggott was then loaned out to Cheltenham Town. Unfortunately, Baggott’s career at the League One club faded, and he only got one appearance.
“I would say one year at two clubs is a pretty good way to put it all together,” Baggott said as quoted by Ipswich Town’s official website.
“I started the season well, played a lot of games for Gillingham, played well, and then moved up the league ladder to Cheltenham which made a lot of sense.

“Not getting many chances to play there is obviously frustrating. So it’s really a season with two acts. It’s all about learning. So in the long term I’m sure it will work in my favour, because I learned a lot at both clubs.”
Ipswich kept in touch with Baggott during his loan spells at Gillingham and Cheltenham. In April, Cheltenham welcomed the arrival of Ipswich which ended in a 1-1 draw. But Baggott was not played in this match. His name wasn’t even on the list.
“I have been in contact with Ipswich a lot this season and they have kept in touch very well. Ipswich came to play against Cheltenham to be a strange day but it’s great to see all the mates. There are lots of new faces, so it’s great to meet some of them,” said Baggott.
“I went into the locker room after the game and the first thing I did was check Ipswich points, which was brilliant.”
Baggott also hopes that he will be retained by Ipswich next season, even though the second round of the 2022/23 season did not go as expected. Moreover, Ipswich plays in the Championship Division.
“It was an amazing season for the club and it was brilliant to see us get promoted. I can’t wait to get back to pre-season and meet all my friends,” added Baggott.
