Daniel Baier ended his career in 2020 after his contract with FC Augsburg was terminated. Three years later, the 39-year-old gets a farewell game. In the WWK ARENA on 9 September, a team from the 2011 promotion team will play against a selection from the team that started in the Europa League for the first time in FCA’s history in the 2015/16 season.
In addition to Baier, other ex-players such as Paul Verhaegh, Halil Altintop, Jan-Ingwer Callsen-Bracker, Tobias Werner and Raul Bobadilla will return to the pitch for a game. “I’m really looking forward to being back on the pitch with my old friends and saying goodbye to the FCA fans,” said Baier.
The long-time captain was with FCA for more than ten years, is the record Bundesliga player for the Fuggerstadt team and appeared in a total of 355 competitive games in the Augsburg shirt.
