Festival Handicaps en Fête: Thaon-les-Vosges aims to change the way people look at disability

Let’s dare the meeting between able-bodied and disabled, for a fun day in Thaon-les-Vosges.

The exclusion of people with disabilities is unfortunately still too often observed during various events, see access to shops, even if efforts have been made for a few years to allow everyone to benefit from the same rights.

To go in this direction and bring people together, whether able-bodied or disabled, the city of Thaon-les-Vosges is organizing “Handicaps en fête”, Saturday June 3, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. at school. of Bouxieres. A festive and friendly event 100% free with many associative partners in the field of disability.

The objective of this event is to facilitate the meeting between people with disabilities and the public and to evaluate the view of disabilities. To do this, several animations and workshops carried by Thaonnaises associations and the sector: Pebbles with History, make-up and quizzes, scenario “In the skin of a dys”, magic table, discovery workshop of Bao Pao, fitness workshop in music and archery, awareness and meeting with host families of accompanying dogs…

• Handi Basket/rifle with the Youth Handi Ballons Chavelotaise association
• Wheelchair course, testimonials and table tennis demonstration by EST Athletics
• Information on dyspraxia with the setting up of a playful workshop (use of boxing gloves) by the association ACSCH Groupe Parentalité
• Raising awareness of deafness and French Sign Language by the D’Signe association
• Bao Pao discovery workshop (easy-to-use musical instrument, adapted to the handicapped) by the FASIBAO association
• Raising awareness and discovery of braille by the Association des Chiens Guides de l’Est
• Raising awareness among hearing people of the hard of hearing disability by the SURDILorraine association
• Telethon information stand and “Muscle Week” exhibition by the AFM Telethon association
• Scenario “In the skin of a dys” by the association APEDYS 88
• Make-up and quiz by the association Solidarité à Lilou
• Magic table: revealing the talents of people with disabilities, encouraging encounters and breaking down prejudices by La Ligue de l’Enseignement des Vosges
• Exhibition of an armchair adapted for winter activities, entertainment with an armchair bike, a joëlette, and small outdoor games by MAS Les Charmilles
• Aperitif-concert hosted by the singer Hell’Vis from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.
• Wheelchair tennis workshop by the Vosges Tennis Committee
• Fitness workshop in music and archery workshop by the Siel Bleu association
• Raising awareness and meeting with host families of accompanying dogs by the Handi’Chien association
